ATLANTA — Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis on Friday acknowledged in a 176-page court filing she had a relationship with Nathan Wade, a top prosecutor she hired to oversee an election subversion case against former U.S. President Donald J. Trump, the Washington Post reported.
The Post shared the court filing Friday, adding Willis called the accusations against her “meritless” and “salacious.”
Furthermore, Willis requested motions to remove her from the case against Trump be dismissed sans a hearing, the Washington Post reported.
The news comes on the day when Ohio GOP U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan subpoenaed Willis and accused her of failing to comply with two House Judiciary Committee requests for documents relating to federal funds use.
A letter signed by Jordan and sent to Willis Friday states that requests have been made for documents relating to use of federal grant funds. Jordan is chairman of the Judiciary Committee.
He added the subpoena comes when a whistleblower has alleged Willis’ office has misused federal money from the Department of Justice.
“According to a recent report, your office unlawfully ‘planned to use a part of a $488,000 federal grant – earmarked for the creation of a Center of Youth Empowerment and Gang Prevention’ – to cover frivolous, unrelated expenses,” Jordan said in the letter.
Willis’ office was accused of utilizing the funding for travel, swag and Macbooks.
Jordan claims the whistleblower was in charge of vetting and securing the funding and was the district attorney office’s single contact for the DOJ.
