Have you ever walked through the halls of an art museum and felt so enchanted that you wanted to touch the art on the walls? Or maybe you once got too close, and a guard had to give you a warning. In a new group exhibition at Reeves House Visual Arts Center, visitors are encouraged to get as close as they like, interact with, and yes, touch all of the artwork on display.
“Please Touch the Art,” on view through March 24, brings together textile art, sculpture, fashion, metalwork, gadgetry and inventions by artists from all over the United States, encouraging tactile exploration for everyone while also offering an intimate art experience to the visually impaired. In this interview, Reeves House director and curator Nicole Lampl, along with contributing artist Kenn Kotara joined “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes to talk more about the exhibit.
