ATLANTA, GA — Police are searching for an Atlanta jail inmate who escaped custody Tuesday while awaiting treatment at Grady Memorial Hospital, according to media reports.
Amy Hightower, 53, was arrested Monday during a traffic stop after it was discovered several warrants had been obtained to charge her on suspicion of shoplifting, both Fox 5 Atlanta and Atlanta News First reported.
She was in the custody of Atlanta City Detention Center staff at the time of her escape, reports say.
