Police search for suspect, person of interest after deadly shooting near GSU campus

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) – Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect and a person of interest in connection to the Sunday fatal shooting near a Georgia State University dorm.

According to the Atlanta Police Department, the shooting happened around 12:41 p.m. at 120 Piedmont Avenue NE, the apartment building across the street from the University Commons dorm.

When officers got to the scene, they found a 21-year-old man with several apparent gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene, the department said.

In the video, the suspect can be seen wearing a black jacket and the person of interest can be seen wearing a red hoody, police said.

According to the president of GSU Brian Blake, none of the individuals involved were GSU students or staff.

Anyone with information on the people shown in the video is asked to call the Atlanta Police Department’s Homicide Unit directly at 404-546-4235.
