In the 1970s, veteran news reporter Dan Rather wrote a book he titled The Camera Never Blinks. It’s a great phrase because it is so true. Thanks to the digital revolution, future historians will benefit greatly from the millions of unblinking eyes focused on the world around us today. It is, of course, dangerous to make historical assumptions based solely on a photograph but there is no question that having a picture of something is, as they say, worth a thousand words. This week, we pause to appreciate the work of two Atlanta brothers and their sons who, for over a half century, focused an unblinking eye on life in Atlanta.
