McGahee was a teacher for more 50 years and said she still loves to read. Her caretakers at the facility said she’s talkative and “flies around” in her wheelchair, especially at special events.

McGahee — also known as “Miss Marcia” — says her life is good at Front Porch.

“It’s peaceful and relatively quiet,” she said, “It’s clean, the food is good and the people are nice.”

The facility will host a birthday party for McGahee on March 13 at noon.

“I always enjoy that,” she said. “But people make a lot more about me being this old than I do.”
