The crash occurred on the morning of March 12. Thomas was pulled over in Whitesburg but reportedly sped off and continued traveling eastbound on Highway 16.

Whitesburg Police placed a lookout for the car, and minutes later, a Coweta County Crime Suppression Unit K-9 handler located the car traveling into Newnan on Highway 16 and pursued it.

The chase continued eastbound towards downtown Newnan when Thomas reportedly lost control of his car while approaching the intersection of Temple Avenue and Taylor Street.

Thomas drove into oncoming traffic, struck a minivan and then a power pole before his car came to a stop on its side in the parking lot of Zion’s Community House, authorities said.

The passenger, identified as Stefanie Ensey, 59, was hospitalized with a bruised abdomen but was discharged and is currently recovering at home, according to family members.

However, the driver, identified as 83-year-old Boo Hall, 83, remains hospitalized at Grady Memorial

Hospital after sustaining five broken ribs, a punctured lung, and several hand and nose fractures, according to family members.

Authorities estimate Thomas was traveling at least 100 mph down Temple Avenue before the crash.

Thomas was medically cleared at Piedmont Newnan Hospital before being booked into the Coweta County Jail and held without bond.
