I-58 Mission hosts open house | Arts & Community

“‘I had no idea!’ is a phrase we hear often after someone walks through our facility,” Novak said. “Some people think we are a warehouse from which we pass out boxes of food, but once you walk through the doors, you know there is so much more to it. We strive to know our people and their stories. Giving our community more of Jesus is our number one goal.”

Members from 11 churches in the area attended the Open House, along with a large group of teens from one of these congregations.

“Everyone was very complimentary of the facility at I-58, noting it is bright, clean and well situated to handle multiple refrigerators and freezers and many shelves for food,” Novak said. “Many positive comments were heard about the organization of the clothes closet and the fact that nothing goes to waste at I-58.”

Clothes donated that are not in a condition to be used are recycled, drawing in income to purchase clothing items that are in high demand.

I-58 offers clients from Coweta, Fayette, Spalding, and Meriwether counties a Christian environment where they can hear a weekly devotional from local pastors who bring the Word each Thursday, along with uplifting music.

They shop for food – making choices in their food selection, shop once a season for clothes, and obtain needed baby items and household goods. Beds are also available for those in need.

This year our key goal is to fulfill more of our clients’ needs.” Novak said. “We have expanded the offerings in the Food Pantry to include meat and dairy.”
