The woman identified the suspect as Deontay Wilkins and said he was currently wanted by police. She did not clarify her relationship with Wilkins.

When deputies arrived, they located the woman inside the store and approached the vehicle where Wilkins moved from the back seat to the driver’s seat.

When deputies ordered him out of the car, Wilkins drove away and began traveling down Bullsboro Drive at a high rate of speed, running several red lights and passing cars while driving over the grass median, the report said.

The pursuit continued on Millard Farmer Industrial Boulevard where he reached speeds of 120 mph, including through a school zone.

Wilkins was unable to make a curve at the intersection of Cross Brook Drive and began traveling in the opposite direction of traffic before jumping a median and hitting a white SUV with his front bumper.

He didn’t stop and deputies attempted to end the pursuit by ramming his car until it eventually spun out of control and drove off the roadway.

Wilkins then jumped out of the car and attempted to flee on foot but was captured and taken into custody.

During a search, deputies found a bag containing suspected MDMA, along with a marijuana grinder, the report said. An ID card that belonged to someone else was also found.

Wilkins declined to give his name, but deputies determined he had two warrants for his arrest out of Cobb County for probation violation and fleeing from law enforcement.
