(NEWNAN, Ga.) Graveside memorial services for Mary Lois Benton Platt, 91, of Newnan, Ga., will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, at 10 a.m. at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, Ga.
Mrs. Platt passed away on Monday, April 1 at her home in Newnan.
Survivors include: one daughter, Christina Jane Halstead (Dan) of Newnan; two sons, Carroll Barnwell Platt, Jr., of Reston, Va., and John Marshall Platt, Sr. (Eileen) of Waynesville, N.C.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A Lumberton, N.C. native, Mrs. Platt was born on Feb. 19, 1933, the daughter of John Heywood and Clara Russ Benton. She was a veteran of the United States Army where she served in the Korean conflict and was Episcopalian by faith. Mrs. Platt worked as a self-employed beautician, as an LPN, and as an inventory manager at Xerox. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carroll B. Platt, Sr.; a daughter, Sharon Lois Platt; one brother; and five sisters.
