Mayor: Goodman allegations ‘difficult for everyone’ | Times Georgian

“This has been very difficult for everyone,” Mayor Betty Cason said. “I hope people will keep their focus on our programs that have helped and continue to help citizens in our community. Our efforts and success have been recognized not only statewide but nationally,”

According to a statement from the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office, Goodman is accused of misusing money from a fundraising account belonging to the organization. CMHA has confirmed Goodman is no longer employed with the organization, and a criminal investigation into the allegations is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.

In November 2023, Goodman was named Woman of the Year by the Carroll County Women Business Alliance. She was actively involved in community organizations and projects such as Impact West GA for the mobile crisis unit and the Fentanyl Awareness Coalition.

According to authorities, concerns were raised about Goodman and the advocacy center several weeks ago, resulting in her termination and the ensuing investigation. In a statement, CMHA officials said they plan to strengthen the organization’s oversight processes, as well as provide ethics and conduct training.
