NPD confirms movement in Blake Chappell case | News

A spokesperson from the Newnan Police Department confirmed Friday that detectives with the Newnan Police Department served three (3) search warrants at individual residential locations in the Sharpsburg area on Wednesday, March 20.

The detectives recently identified new leads and information regarding the homicide investigation, according to City Communications Manager, Aimee Hadden.

This additional information reportedly led the detectives to apply for search warrants in the three locations and resulted in the collection of evidence, which will be sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for further analysis.

While some suspects were removed from the list of persons of interest in this case, Hadden said the Newnan Police Department voluntarily interviewed one person of interest.

“At this time, no arrests have been made and the investigation is active and ongoing,” Hadden said.

Chappell reportedly left his girlfriend’s house in the early hours of Oct. 16, 2011 to walk the three miles to the friend’s home where he was to stay overnight. He never made it to the friend’s home, and his last known communication was a text about the cold weather sent to his girlfriend around 5:30 a.m.
