Al­te­sa Bio­Sciences has raised a $35 mil­lion Se­ries A from undis­closed in­vestors, ac­cord­ing to an SEC fil­ing from Ju­ly. The com­pa­ny de­vel­ops an­tivi­ral drugs for chron­ic ob­struc­tive pul­monary dis­ease from virus­es that cause the com­mon cold.

The Col­lege Park, GA-based start­up is led by Brett Giroir, the for­mer as­sis­tant sec­re­tary for health in the De­part­ment of Health and Hu­man Ser­vices dur­ing the Trump ad­min­is­tra­tion, act­ing FDA com­mis­sion­er and ad­mi­ral.
