Apprentice School wins final regular-season football game by forfeit – The Virginian-Pilot

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

Community Christian College of Georgia, which was scheduled to play at Apprentice School on Saturday, did not make the trip from Snellville and forfeited the game. The Builders thus completed their regular season at 4-6.

Apprentice announced that the food drive originally scheduled for Saturday to benefit the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank was moved. Fans can now drop off their non-perishable food items at either the women’s basketball home opener against Regent on Tuesday or the men’s basketball home opener against Mountain Gateway Community College on Nov. 18. Five non-perishable items will serve as the price of admission to either event.

Conway sets ODU milestone in victory

Old Dominion junior Myah Conway became the first player in program history to reach 1,000 career kills as the Monarchs began a trip with a 3-1 (29-31, 31-29, 25-20, 26-24) victory at Southern Mississippi.

Needing 19 coming into the match, the Orwigsburg, Pennsylvania, native finished the night with 21 and added five digs, three blocks and three service aces for the Monarchs (14-15, 6-9 Sun Belt) against the Golden Eagles (11-15, 6-9).

Norfolk State falls to Howard

Rya McKinnon had 15 kills to help Howard (15-13, 11-3 MEAC) beat Norfolk State 3-1 (23-25, 25-21, 25-16, 25-16) at Echols Hall.

For NSU (8-13, 7-7), Gabrielle Gilbert had 10 kills and nine digs, while Sydney McCree had 23 assists.

W&L upends Va. Wesleyan in ODAC semifinal

Washington and Lee upended top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan 3-1 (20-25, 31-29, 26-24, 25-14) Thursday night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference Tournament semifinal at the Marlins’ TowneBank Arena.

VWU (26-6) still stands a strong change of an at-large bid to the 64-team NCAA Division III Tournament when the field is revealed at 1 p.m. Monday.

Allie Buchholz had 48 assists and 16 digs for W&L (21-10), while Vivi Vasquez had 34 digs and Sydney Heifner had 21 kills. The Generals will play at Randolph-Macon…
