16. Oklahoma (7-2) — The Sooners suffered their second-straight loss of the season after a perfect 7-0 start and national-title aspirations. This time, it was a 27-24 loss to Oklahoma State. The Sooners managed nearly 500 yards of total offense, but could not move the chains on fourth down during the push for overtime. The loss drops the Sooners out of the top of the conference with West Virginia next on the schedule.
17. Oklahoma State (7-2) — The Cowboys are among November’s biggest risers so far thanks to a 27-24 Bedlam victory over Oklahoma. Ollie Gordon ran for 137 yards and two touchdowns while the defense held strong against Oklahoma’s push to force overtime.
18. Kansas (7-2) — Last week’s Oklahoma upset got Kansas into the rankings. A 28-21 victory at Iowa State keeps the Jayhawks on the climb. Kansas is 4-2 in Big 12 play with Texas Tech set to visit next.
19. LSU (6-3) — As Alabama began to pull away, Heisman candidate Jayden Daniels entered concussion protocol after a hit from Dallas Turner. From there, LSU could not match pace with the Crimson Tide in what ended as a, 42-28, loss. Prior to injury, it was a brilliant showing from Daniels with 219 passing yards, 163 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
20. Tulane (8-1) — Michael Pratt threw for 213 yards and a touchdown to avoid an upset in a 13-10 victory over ECU. Combine Tulane’s win with the Air Force loss and the debate for New Year’s Six bowl opportunities gets interesting.
