The College Park Skyhawks, the NBA G League affiliate of the Atlanta Hawks, and Georgia Natural Gas, debuted theme uniforms Tuesday for ‘Opening Weekend presented by Georgia Natural Gas’ on Nov. 18 and 19.
The numbers and sides of the uniforms have a special flame gradient and prominently feature logos from GNG and Hosea Helps, a local nonprofit organization whose mission is to help combat food insecurity. These theme uniforms mark the first time in franchise history that the Skyhawks will wear theme uniforms during home opening weekend.
“The jerseys, the home opening weekend, the food drive, and more all show a serious investment and collaboration between the Hawks/Skyhawks and GNG, and this is just the beginning,” said Atlanta Hawks Vice President of NBA G League and 2K League Operations Janice Koon. “It is going to be an amazing weekend for our fans, and we are so excited to work with Georgia Natural Gas to heat up the Southside!”
As part of the opening weekend games, fans are invited and encouraged to donate canned items to containers that will be placed at all Gateway Center Arena gates, which will be used to stock the Hosea Helps pantry for Thanksgiving. Specific items needed include canned green beans, canned corn, canned yams, and bottled water.
“Georgia Natural Gas knows how important it is to serve the communities where we work,” said Aimee Henderson, Director of Marketing for Georgia Natural Gas. “We’re proud to partner with the Skyhawks to help our neighbors, especially as we enter the holiday season. As a special thank you we’re giving the first 250 fans who contribute to the food drive a voucher redeemable for a pair of free tickets to an upcoming Skyhawks game.”
