Construction to begin on multi-story parking deck on the Health Sciences Campus – Jagwire

by Fulton Watch News Feed

To support growth and better meet the transportation needs of the Augusta University community, construction of a parking deck will begin early next year on the Health Sciences Campus.

The project will occupy Lot 1 at the southwest corner of the campus, near the Dental College of Georgia, J. Harold Harrison, MD Education Commons, College of Science and Mathematics and student housing. The new facility will provide 1,350 parking spaces, creating a more pedestrian-friendly campus for students, faculty and staff who currently park in remote locations.

“We are excited to take this next step in executing the university’s master plan,” said Augusta University President Brooks A. Keel, PhD. “As we continue to grow enrollment, this project will provide a convenient, sustainable transportation solution for our university community.”

The parking deck will utilize pre-cast concrete segments manufactured off-site and assembled in place. The facility will have entry from and exit to Wrightsboro Road and will include electric vehicle charging stations on the first and second parking levels. The additional spaces will create a 60% increase in parking capacity for students and employees on the Health Sciences Campus.

Lot 1 will close at the end of the fall semester to accommodate site preparation, with construction scheduled to begin in February 2024. The facility is slated to open in spring 2025.
