The Grand Island City Singers, a holiday staple in the community for almost 60 years, will present their annual holiday concert on Dec. 2 and 3.
“When Stars Shone Down” is set for 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, and Sunday, Dec. 3, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 1515 S. Harrison.
The program will include both traditional favorites and new selections.
City Singers formed in 1965 are in their 58th year of entertaining audiences in Central Nebraska. Members come from not only Grand Island, but Hastings, St. Paul and other area communities.
Micah Hesterman is the director and Mark Landis is accompanist.
Tickets are $8 for adults and youth through fifth grade and $4 younger students. Children 5 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available from any City Singers member or at the door.

Handel’s ‘Messiah’ set for Sunday in Hastings
HASTINGS — Hastings College Department of Music, as well as high school choirs, alumni, the Hastings Symphony Orchestra and guest musicians and soloists, will present Handel’s “Messiah” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 3, in Lynn Farrell Arena, 800 E. 12th St. in Hastings.
Participating high school choirs include Grand Island Senior High, Scottsbluff High School, Adams-Central High School and Minden High School. Directors of all participating high school choirs are Hastings College alumni.
Guest soloists include Jamie Reimer, soprano; Hannah Benson, mezzo-soprano; Graham Brooks, tenor; and Jared Hiscock, bass.
