AUBURN, Ala. (WRBL) – The Auburn Police (APD) said with assistance from the Mobile Police Department an Atlanta resident was arrested on multiple felony warrants charging her with theft and fraudulent use of a debit/credit card after an investigation into multiple thefts at local businesses revealed she may be responsible and connected to related incidents in Mobile, Alabama.
According to APD, 33-year-old Lakisha Nicole Hancock’s arrest came after the police department received several theft reports on July 20, 2023. Two victims reported to police that a suspect stole items including their bank cards.
APD says the theft happened at two different locations, one at a local business located near the 1200 block of Gatewood Drive, and the second theft happened at another business located near the 800 block of East Glenn Avenue. Both victims reported multiple fraudulent activities occurring on their stolen cards at different locations.
Auburn Police later developed Hancock as a suspect and detectives were also notified by the Mobile Police Department that they are investigating similar incidents that may involve Hancock.
After additional investigation, the Auburn Police Department obtained arrest warrants for Hancock and she was arrested on Tuesday. Following her arrest, police transported her to the Lee County Jail, where she is held on a $6,500 bond.
