Clayton County Commissioners Approve $30 Million Bond To Renovate Wingate Apartments | News

The apartment complex at 4735 Courtney Drive, Forest Park, has 211 units and is west of Jonesboro Road and north of Forest Avenue.

At the April 2 meeting, County Attorney Charles Reed told commissioners that the project will be a “thorough makeover” with immediate maintenance work and renovations to improve living conditions for residents and to get the complex into compliance.

Financing will be through the Housing Authority, which will issue a $30 million tax-exempt bond, Reed said.

There are plans to invest an additional $2.7 million in capital expenditures to address deferred maintenance needs, Reed said.

The project team includes PUSH Ministry, program manager, and Scott Property Management, property manager.

Reed told commissioners that the Housing Authority assumes liability for the bond but the Board of Commissioners had to approve it.

Units at the apartment complex range from one to three bedrooms while square footage ranges from 675 to 1,077-square feet.

Rent ranges from $1,000 to $1,271 per month, Reed said.
