Clayton County Murder Suspect Arrested In Michigan | News

According to a Nixle alert sent by the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Sunday morning, the Clayton County Police Department was dispatched to the Brookwood Circle area in Jonesboro about a person shot.

When they arrived, they found a female victim deceased from gunshot wounds.



Clayton County Police detectives were able to identify Washington as the suspect and obtained warrants for his arrest.

The CCPD detectives turned case over to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office for apprehension, the Nixle alert stated.

 The CCSO Elite Fugitive Squad was then activated to capture Washington.



Both CCPD detectives and CCSO Fugitive Investigators immediately started a track for Washington.




About 16 hours from the time of the murder, Washington was taken into custody by the Southfield Police Department in Michigan.

“Special thanks to Chief Kevin Roberts and the outstanding men and women of the Clayton County Police Department, and Chief Elvin V. Barren and the men and women of the Southfield Police Department (Michigan),” the CCSO stated. “Working together, we were able to achieve a quick outcome and bring the suspect to justice within 24 hours.”



The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office also reminds local residents that if they are the victims of domestic violence and abuse to reach out for help. 



“Citizens of Clayton County, domestic violence is real, and staying in such situations only ends with someone in jail, someone dead, or both,” the CCSO stated in the Nixle alert.
