CNN CEO Chris Licht Stepping Down After 1 Year: Reports

by Fulton Watch News Feed

NEW YORK — Chris Licht, chief executive and chairman of CNN, is leaving the network after one year, CNN reported Wednesday.

The news outlet said Licht leaving the company is due to a number of reasons, noting his departure comes days after his controversial profile in The Atlantic.

CNN has undergone layoffs, low ratings and low employee morale since Licht took the helm, the outlet reported.

The news of Licht leaving CNN comes months after it was announced in January that Atlanta’s CNN Center was leaving its well-known downtown building and relocating employees back to Midtown to the Turner Techwood campus, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.

Downtown Atlanta was home to the CNN Center for 35 years and was the previous host of company headquarters prior to New York claiming the main offices, the AJC reported.
