Almond was accused of yelling at a 9-year-old child over $2.50 that was missing. Boston said someone tried to intervene but was unsuccessful in calming down Almond. Benton arrived with his wife, attempting to speak to Almond, Boston said.
The conversation led to a physical altercation, which then led to Almond retrieving a gun from under his bedsheets, shooting Benton in the chest and killing him, Boston said.
