‘Master Narrative’ exhibition challenges Eurocentric perceptions at Spelman Museum of Fine Art – WABE

by Fulton Watch News Feed

The creative work of Afro-Cuban American artist Harmonia Rosales intertwines images from ancient mythology, Biblical stories, classical antiquity and Afro-Cuban culture, challenging Eurocentric perceptions of beauty and narratives.

Her exhibition “Master Narrative” features 20 paintings and a large-scale sculptural installation on view through Dec. 2 at Spelman College Museum of Fine Art.

In this interview, “City Lights” host Lois Reitzes speaks with Rosales about the exhibit.

“I wanted to paint these stories so we could be part of the conversation, which we have not been,” Rosales said.
