Hello everyone, this is Nicole from the Panda Care Team. It’s that time of the year when the seasons are starting to change, and the giant pandas are starting to spend more time in their outdoor habitats here at Zoo Atlanta. While we humans may wish to stay inside when it gets cooler, pandas are very well suited to colder temperatures as they are native to cool, high-altitude regions in China. Their fur keeps them warm while also possessing an oily substance to repel excess snow. The colder temperatures also lead to a more active routine, as pandas do not hibernate like other bears do.

This is also the time of year when Halloween is just around the corner too! Be sure to celebrate our final weekend of Boo at the Zoo this Saturday and Sunday, October 28 and 29. If you happen to stop by, look around for pumpkins or panda treats scattered around their habitats. (Pictured: Lun Lun)
