In a recent interview on The Rashad Richey Morning Show, renowned Metro Atlanta native, owner of Pain 2 Wellness Chiropractic Center, Dr. Winston Carhee, and Chairman of the 100 Black Men of Atlanta Inc., Sidney Barron, shared details about an upcoming event aimed at promoting health and wellness in the community.
Scheduled for April 6th, the event includes a sunrise march, a family fun run, and a health festival with free screenings for the community. The initiative is part of the 100 Black Men of America’s mission to enhance educational and economic opportunities for African American youth while prioritizing health and wellness initiatives.
During the interview, Dr. Carhee emphasized the importance of physical activity in reducing the risk of chronic conditions that disproportionately affect the Black community. He highlighted the value of regular exercise in improving overall health and well-being, and encouraged families to participate in the upcoming event as a way to promote active and healthy lifestyles.
Mr. Barron echoed Dr. Carhee’s sentiments, emphasizing the significance of student involvement in the event. Participants will range from college students to elementary school children, aiming to instill healthy habits early on and encourage families to exercise together. The event aims to foster community engagement and celebrate the importance of health and wellness in daily life.
While the family fun run event is already sold out, volunteers are still needed to support the event’s success. Interested individuals can sign up to volunteer at runatlanta5k.org, contributing to the event’s mission of promoting a culture of health and fitness within the community. Additionally, the sunrise march and health festival are open to the public, providing opportunities for community members to join in the festivities and access valuable health resources.
