ATLANTA — The new voice of the Atlanta airport is quite the familiar one.
While new to the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the voice of Ryan Cameron has been heard throughout the metro for several years.
The syndicated radio personality announced the news Monday via X, formerly Twitter, alongside a video featuring Cameron giving instructions to passengers.
“Breaking news. Dreams don’t have deadlines. So excited to be the voice of @HartsfieldATL. I love my city,” Cameron wrote.
He noted someone has commented that they will know they are home when they hear Cameron’s voice.
“I received that,” Cameron said.
Jai Ferrell, ATL chief commercial officer and deputy general manager for the airport, said in a statement to Fox 5 Atlanta called Cameron a radio legend and said partnering with Cameron could not have been better manifested.
“His charisma, talent and professionalism make him a wonderful ambassador to the public as the voice of Hartsfield-Jackson,” Ferrell said to the outlet.
Cameron, who is a motivational speaker and two-time Emmy award winner, is best known for “The Ryan Cameron Morning Show with Wanda Smith” on V-103.
The Atlanta native is the first African-American public address announcer for the Atlanta Hawks, according to his nonprofit, the Ryan Cameron Foundation. Cameron founded the organization to teach youths how to be leaders.
Atlanta Magazine named Cameron one of Atlanta’s 55 Most Powerful while The Source deemed him one of the Top 20 Influencers, according to Majic ATL and his foundation.
The Atlanta socialite was inducted into both the Georgia Hall of Fame and the Black Radio Hall of Fame, according to his foundation.
Cameron’s voice is featured in video games and can be heard on the nationally-syndicated, Urban One-backed “The Ryan Cameron Uncensored Show,” according to his foundation.
