- Members of DeKalb County’s Democratic Legislative delegation seek to remove Stone Mountain’s designation as a Confederate Memorial and remove the word ‘Memorial’ from the title of the park’s official designation. State representatives recently introduced House Bill 794. With the passing of this bill, their hopes to eliminate the giant Confederate carving at the park, and its history will be accomplished. House bill 794 has been co-sponsored by every member of the DeKalb delegation, who have expressed their frustrations towards the Stone Mountain Memorial Association for not acting in a more prompt manner in response to the situation.
