Here are the top five stories in Douglasville today:
- The City of Douglasville is inviting residents to attend an Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan Meeting on Sep. 23 at 9:00 a.m. This meeting will be held at Hunter Park and will include discussions on how to make local improvements that are in alignment with the ADA. Transition plans typically include an inventory of programs, facilities, and public right-of-ways. The plan will also include a proposed schedule and budget for improvements. Resident feedback is encouraged as city officials work to increase accessibility in Douglasville. (City of Douglasville – Government via Facebook)
- Douglasville native Jai’que Hart, a freshman quarterback at Bluefield State University, was recognized for his achievements on the field earlier this week. On Monday, Sep. 4, the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association named Hart the Quarterback of the Week and Rookie of the Week. In his debut game, Hart led the Big Blue team to a 41-7 victory with five touchdowns and over 200 passing yards. (Bluefield Daily Telegraph)
- There’s still time to sign up for this weekend’s “Ready, Set, Glow! 5K” event, organized by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office. The event will take place on Saturday, Sep. 9 at Boundary Waters Park.
