BOE member Ruth Morgan reads to preschoolers in Head Start Program | Douglasville Sentinel

Morgan read “I’m Going to Be a Princess,” written by Stephanie Taylor and illustrated by Jade Orlando. In the book, a little girl named Maya discovers the achievements of some amazing Black women. But it’s a brave Nigerian princess who really captures Maya’s imagination!

Morgan, who represents District 1 on the Board of Education, interacted with the 131 preschoolers in the program during her visit, asking the students what they want to be when they grow up. Many told her they want to be a police officer, firefighter or basketball player.

“Do you know you can be anything you want to be?” Morgan told the students.

Morgan also presented the Head Start program with copies of the children’s book “Shady Baby,” written by former NBA superstar Dwayne Wade and his wife, actress and producer Gabrielle Union.
