Candidates for mayor to take part in ‘The Conversation’ on Wednesday | Local News

Two-term incumbent Mayor Rochelle Robinson and two challengers — former school board member Devetrion Caldwell and former City Councilman and Mayor Pro Tem Richard Segal — will participate Wednesday, Condrey said.

“This is that last moment before it’s time to get out and vote on November 7 that we’re going to have all three in the room,” Condrey said. “This is the time to ask the hard questions, the tough questions. They’re going to determine what the next four years look like in Douglasville. And Douglasville has come a long way. And these next four years are just going to be a huge game-changer. So, it’s imperative if (citizens) really love Douglasvlle, they care about Douglasville, they should be there for this.”

Condrey said he has steered away from calling Wednesday’s event a “debate” or “forum,” noting that “conversation rules the nation, and when people talk, then everybody can get understanding.”

“The style of a debate, that foundation, is still there,” Condrey said. “But at the same time there are other elements that are added into it.”

Condrey said a panel of three people will ask the candidates questions. He said audience members will also be able to submit questions.

He said all three candidates will have equal opportunities to respond.

The event is free and will start at 7:30 p.m. Condrey said organizers are asking those who plan to attend to register ahead of time at
