County to celebrate 153rd anniversary | Douglasville Sentinel

All events are free and open to the public.

The activity will include historical clues and factoids related to the county’s citizenry, artifacts, landmarks, and other interesting elements.

During a 5 p.m. commemorative program at the courthouse, members of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners will make remarks reflective of the county’s founding and ongoing mission.

Following the program, a proclamation will be read during a 6 p.m. BOC meeting at Citizen’s Hall. The county was founded in 1870, and has experienced steady growth.

According to 2020 Census data, the county’s population was 144, 237.

The population growth has doubled within the past two decades.
