A Coweta County man has been found guilty of abusing two minor girls and sentenced to life without parole. Leslie Gene Patterson, 60, was convicted on two counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated sexual battery. Judge Travis Sakrison considered Patterson’s multiple prior felony convictions in handing down the life without parole sentence, according to a release from District Attorney Herb Cranford’s office. “Patterson has been arrested over 60 times in his life and has been convicted of numerous felonies,” Cranford said in the release. “It is tragic that he was living freely in our community to be able to sexually assault at least two minor females. I am thankful that these victims and our entire community can rest a little easier knowing that he will never live freely among us again.”

Assistant District Attorney Scott Teague prosecuted the case and Coweta County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Shawna Wade led the investigation. Prosecutors alleged that while Patterson was living in Sweetbriar Mobile Home Park, he hosted parties where he supplied alcohol and drugs for a teenaged family member and his high school friends, which included girls under 18.
