Assistant DA Jared Parrish and DA Investigator Sonia Green prosecuted the case, while Det. Joseph Castro of the Newnan Police Department led the investigation. Superior Court Judge John Simpson accepted Dodson’s plea agreement, which was negotiated by the state.

In June 2021, the victim came forward and notified law enforcement that Dodson began raping her in 2016. At age 15, she became pregnant and gave birth to his child in 2017, confirmed through DNA testing conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. The victim said Dodson kept her silent with threats.

According to the DA, in June 2021 a female relative told another relative Dodson had been abusing her, prompting both females to seek help from law enforcement.

“This case serves as an example of how the diligent work of law enforcement, combined with the bravery of victimized children can bring a sexual predator to justice,” Cranford said in the release. “I am thankful that the victims did not have to go through a traumatizing trial in order for justice to be done, and I hope that this defendant will remain incarcerated for the remainder of his life.”
