  1. The Douglas County Board of Commissioners has approved a significant pay increase, boosting the starting salary for a Douglas County POST Certified Deputy Sheriff to $58,500. This salary increase ranks the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office as the third-highest paid Sheriff’s Office in the Metro Atlanta Area and places it in the top 10 among all law enforcement agencies in the state. Additionally, the starting salary range for a Deputy Sheriff with experience and current POST Certifications now extends from $58,500 to $69,538, with an anticipated increase in starting pay for certified jailer positions to $52,983. On Monday, Oct. 16 the Douglas County Variance Board will hold a public meeting at 6:00 p.m. During this meeting, they will review a request for a Special Exception Variance seeking to raise the fence height in the R-LD (residential low density) zoning district from six feet to 10 feet. The property in question is situated at 8936 Dornoch Circle, Winston, 30187, within Land Lot(s) 143, District 3, Section 5, and Parcel(s) 43, with a lot size of approximately 0.70 acres.
