Monroy-Garcia pled guilty to aggravated battery, aggravated assault, terroristic threats, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, tampering with evidence, and reckless conduct.

The shooting took place on Cherokee Boulevard in the early morning hours on June 19, 2022 at a party.

Monroy-Garcia got into a verbal altercation with an attendee that turned physical.

As another partygoer attempted to intervene, Monroy-Garcia struck him in the head with a gun.

The person left the party in fear of his life, according to a Douglas County District Attorney’s Office news release.

A third person got involved when he tried to calm Monroy-Garcia by offering him something to drink.

He became upset and struck the third victim in the head with his firearm, according to the news release.

Monroy-Garcia showed his firearm to another victim and threaten to kill him.

They got into a first fight, and Monroy-Garcia shot him in the abdomen.

The victim survived the shooting but sustained significant injuries, according to the news release.

After the shooting, Monroy-Garica dumped the firearm in the nearby woods and returned to his family’s home.

Monroy-Garcia was arrested later that day and charged in the shootings.
