Two Columbus residents were charged with drug trafficking after allegedly parking their car at two closed businesses in Coweta.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Dec. 15, when a deputy on patrol on Collinsworth Road noticed a White Kia K5 parked at the Shell station near the interstate. The station was closed at the time.
The deputy observed a man getting into the vehicle, and he began driving southbound on Interstate 85 before exiting on Poplar Road.
The driver pulled into the parking lot of a storage facility and turned off his lights.
The deputy made contact with the driver and the passenger, identified as Christopher Robertson McPherson and Tiffany Rochelle Fajardo, respectively.
McPherson told the deputy he pulled into the parking lot because he was tired and was going to rest for a minute. Both McPherson and Fajardo told the deputy they were returning to Columbus after a trip to Atlanta.
Fajardo reportedly provided several false names to the deputy before consenting to a fingerprint scan, which confirmed her identity and that she had an active warrant.
McPherson told the deputy he did not have a driver’s license. Deputies determined McPherson’s had actually been suspended for failing to appear in court on Oct. 21, 2021, and he was placed into handcuffs along with Fajardo.
Inside the suspect vehicle, the deputy said he noticed a methamphetamine pipe between the driver’s seat and the center console.
During a search of Fajardo’s wallet, he allegedly found suspected MDMA and methamphetamine, and inside a black box wedged between the passenger seat and center console was more than 14 grams of suspected heroin, along with an EBT card belonging to McPherson.
A book bag located on the passenger seat floorboard contained a broken pipe, scales, a needle and aluminum strips with burn marks on them, according to the incident…
