Wounded teen recovering in Atlanta hospital | News

A local teen remains in an Atlanta hospital after being shot in the face earlier this week in Milledgeville.

Local authorities have charged a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting.

More information has since been released by the Milledgeville Police Department about the shooting that took place in the area of Orchard Hill Road and Pritchett Drive about 10:30 p.m. Monday.

Milledgeville Police Department Maj. Linc Boyer said the victim recently celebrated his 16th birthday.

Officer Jalen Webb wrote in an incident report that he had was dispatched to a residence on Wilbur Court where the victim lived with his mother.

“Upon my arrival, I heard a lot of screaming coming from (the residence) where I was then met with the victim’s mother, later identified as Chaka Jones, who stated her son, identified as Brice Reeves, had been shot in the face,” Webb said.

The officer said he grabbed his medical bag and met with Lt. Ryan Chapple inside the dining room of the residence where the victim was sitting in a chair holding direct pressure on the gunshot wound.

“Once we were able to see Reeves’ injury, we began providing basic medical treatment to Reeves until Grady EMS arrived on the scene,” Webb said.

In addition to ambulance personnel, firefighters/first responders with Milledgeville Fire Rescue Services also arrived on the scene to render assistance.

Webb said the victim told police that he was hanging out near Orchard Hill Road and Pritchett Drive when he was shot.

Reeves was later taken by ambulance to Atrium Health Navicent Baldwin hospital where he was treated before being taken by an Air Evac medical helicopter to Children’s Egleston Hospital in Atlanta.
