by Fulton Watch News Feed

ATLANTA — After being jailed for more than a year, rapper Young Thug is finally having his day in court.

Fox 5 Atlanta is live-streaming opening statements Monday in the racketeering and gang trial against Young Thug, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams.

Williams, of “Lifestyle” and “Thief in the Night” fame, was one of 28 co-defendants accused of being associated with the suspected gang, Young Slime Life. Another notable defendant was fellow rapper, Sergio “Gunna” Kitchens, who has since taken an Alford plea deal.

Both Atlanta News First and Fox 5 Atlanta reported Thursday the case took a turn when Fulton County Chief Superior Court Judge Ural Glanville ruled some of Williams’ lyrics can be used as evidence in the case.

Meanwhile, prosecutors maintain Williams’ lyrics can prove he and five other defendants were YSL members, an alleged street gang affiliated with the nationwide Bloods gang, Fox 5 Atlanta reported.
