Attorney explains family’s civil rights lawsuit after Atlanta deacon dies in altercation with officer – WABE

Deacon Johnny Hollman Sr., who was involved in a minor traffic accident, died on Aug. 10 after Atlanta police officer Kiran Kimbrough tased him. Officer Kimbrough has been terminated—but Hollman’s family and their attorneys are now demanding further accountability.

On Tuesday’s edition of “Closer Look,” Attorney Harold Spence told show host Rose Scott it’s an indisputable fact that Hollman agreed to sign a traffic ticket that Kimbrough requested—and therefore, there was no need for the situation to escalate.

Spence further discussed a new pending civil rights lawsuit against the City of Atlanta, Kimbrough and the tow truck driver who responded to the scene.
