Parkinson group bringing wellness symposium to Atlanta | Local News

Education and support can empower people with PD to make the best choices possible for their overall treatment plan and quality of life. 

The APDA Live Well Symposium is a health and wellness educational program designed for people with Parkinson’s and their families. Atlanta-area PD experts will share their expertise and answer questions from the audience. The presentation topics include:

• Challenges with hospital stays and medication management.
• Power of exercise and healthy nutrition for those living with PD.
• Navigating a role as a care partner for those living with PD.
• How to handle anxiety about the disease and maintain positivity throughout the PD journey.

“A diagnosis of PD can be overwhelming, but with the right resources, information, and support, it can be much easier to navigate,” said Amy Johnston, executive director of the APDA Georgia Chapter. “This symposium will empower everyone affected by Parkinson’s disease to live their best lives through reliable information and easy lifestyle changes, including exercise. Research has shown that exercise can improve many PD symptoms, including balance and mobility issues.”

This program is ideal for people who are diagnosed with PD and their family members. Any members of the community who are interested in learning about Parkinson’s disease are welcome to attend. Lunch will be provided.
