The pressing issue of food insecurity and its consequential challenges plague countless individuals and families across the nation.

The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office collaborated with Volunteer Gwinnett and the Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Food Ministry for 3rd Annual Thanksgiving giveaway held at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday November 9th, 2023. This partnership aimed to address the pressing needs of the community through a day of impactful initiatives.

Statistics garnered from the North Gwinnett Cooperative’s data in 2022 further underscore the urgency of such endeavors. The figures reveal that a significant total of 23,136 individuals benefited from the vital programs to tackle food insecurity. Particularly noteworthy is the fact that 46% of those served were children, highlighting the vulnerability of the younger population to food insecurity (North Gwinnett Cooperative). The Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office, through spearheading this impactful food giveaway, aimed to alleviate the burdens faced by families precariously poised on the edge of poverty. This commendable event provided families in need with a bountiful Thanksgiving meal, ensuring that no one goes hungry during this holiday season.
