Company owner says agent defrauded him of $3,300

MILTON, Ga. — A Milton man reported to police Feb. 15 that someone forged his signature on a contract, defrauding his company of more than $3,300.

The man, who owns a timber company, told police that an Alpharetta man forged a land lease contract that he had not authorized for the use of the land. He said he never met or spoken to the party the land was leased to.

The owner said the suspect is a licensed real estate agent in Georgia, whose registered company notified him of the fraudulent contract and told him the suspect was terminated.

The owner said the suspect told his company the land in question was not able to be leased and then surreptitiously leased the land to the third party and collected the fee for himself by way of forging the contract.
