Roswell has been on the road for five straight, but on Thursday they’ll finally head home. They will take on the Goddard Rockets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Roswell never got on the board in their matchup last Tuesday, but that sure wasn’t the case in their game against Portales on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 10-1 victory. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Roswell has managed all season.
Yadira Aragon made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned run or hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Aragon was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-5.
In other batting news, Lauren Lucero was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Alayna Tarin was another key contributor, scoring four runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Goddard can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Dexter as Goddard made off with a 12-1 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Goddard.
Like Roswell, Goddard also got a great game from a two-way player: Juliet Gallegos. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Gallegos has been consistent recently: she hasn’t pitched less than six innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Gallegos was also solid in the batter’s box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
