Roswell Makes a Statement, Cannon Starts Strong – Lacrosse Bucket

Kentucky and North Carolina fully jumped into the fold last week, as well multiple Tennessee powers, and so the high school lacrosse season is officially underway across the South. And during that first week of play in those areas, much has already happened. Additionally, there were a pair of massive results in Georgia and Texas.

With another week in the books, it’s time to look back and breakdown some of the highlights from the week that was.

So, let’s get after it!

Roswell Earns Statement Win Versus Lambert

Arguably the biggest game of the last week in high school lacrosse across the South was Lambert (Ga.) vs Roswell (Ga.).

The Roswell Hornets welcomed in the six-time and reigning back to back champion Lambert Longhorns on Friday and pulled out an impressive, 13-6 victory. It marks the first time in which the Hornets have beaten the Longhorns since 2015.

Leading wire to wire, Roswell got up early and never let up in the Friday night battle. Senior Hill Plunkett (Army West Point signee) led the way with six goals for the Hornets while junior Ezra Moore had four goals.

Roswell moved to 6-0 on the win and looks to have ascended to another level this season, sitting atop the 5A/6A division and arguably the state as a whole. On April 21st, their last game of the regular season, the Hornets will play the only other team who has beaten Lambert to this point: Blessed Trinity (Ga.). That game will likely decide the Area 5 title.

Cannon School Starts Strong

Play is underway in the Tar Heel state and perhaps no team has had a better opening week to the season the Cannon School (N.C.) Cougars. The reigning NCISAA DI champions are 2-0 after defeating Chris School (N.C.) and Lucky Bechkahm (S.C.) last week.
