Roswell suffers third loss in district against Hobbs | Local Sports

Despite a few early turnovers, the Lady Coyotes kept Hobbs’ lead within seven points in the first quarter, ending the quarter with a 20-13 score. However, the Lady Eagles defense forced plenty of turnovers and stopped any inside presence in the half-court setting, producing steals on that end as well. As a result, the visitors built a 30-point lead to end the half while keeping the Coyotes scoreless in the second quarter.

The Lady Coyotes eked out 15 points in the second half, but Hobbs kept their engine going to outpace the Roswell team and put the game away. With this loss, the Roswell girls’ varsity team fell to 11-12 and a 1-3 district record. Hobbs continues to lead its district with an undefeated district record of 4-0 and an overall record of 21-3. Roswell will host the visiting Carlsbad Cavegirls on Friday starting at the RHS main gym, with tip-off beginning at 7 p.m.
