RPD releases name of fatality in Wednesday crash | Local News

A passenger who was in the vehicle, identified as Chavez’s 19-year-old daughter, sustained injuries and was in critical condition when she was taken to a local hospital before being flown to another medical center. As of Thursday morning, the daughter was in critical but stable condition.

The press release indicates that early findings from the Roswell Police Department’s ongoing investigation suggest that both women were heading south on South Main Street in a Lincoln MKZ at about 1 p.m. when the vehicle left the road, veered onto a median and struck a tree.

Due to the heavy damage, crews from the Roswell Fire Department had to extract the women from the wreckage.

Following the accident, both lanes of South Main Street between Monksdale and Mountain View roads were closed to traffic for several hours.
