Plans for a new Atlanta Department of Aviation headquarters right next to Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport are taxiing down the runway.
6000 Terminal Parkway at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, where the city is looking to build a new aviation administration building.
New South Construction filed an application with the city, which owns the world’s busiest airport, to begin site work at 6000 North Terminal Parkway to make way for the $242M, four-story Aviation Administration Center. Cost for the site work is $7.5M, according to the application.
The land was formerly used as an economy parking lot before it was abandoned years ago for a hotel development that never materialized, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. The 200K SF aviation administration building will be home to up to 700 employees who are now spread across different areas of the airport, according to the AJC. The facility is reported to be set to deliver in the second quarter of 2026, according to the AJC.
DEVELOPMENT
Solarcycle is planning to develop a $344M solar glass manufacturing plant in Cedartown some 70 miles to the west of Downtown Atlanta in Polk County, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp announced Thursday. The facility, to be located at the Cedartown North Business Park, will recycle old solar glass panels to create new ones and should be open in 2026.
