Marietta Schools Superintendent Grant Rivera is recommending the Board of Education remove 23 books containing “sexually explicit content” from the Marietta High School library.
The school board is scheduled to consider the book bans at its meeting Tuesday evening.
The list is the result of a four-step process that followed the board’s Sept. 12 directive to Rivera to remove “sexually explicit material” from the school district, Rivera told the MDJ Monday.
Board members will also consider Marietta parent Jenny Storino’s appeal to get reinstated a book which was banned by Rivera prior to the board issuing its directive — “Me and Earl and the Dying Girl” by Jesse Andrews.
