ROSWELL, Ga. — Roswell Chief Operating Officer Richard Rhinehart will depart his role with the city this January after some eight months of employment.
His departure follows some 70 letters of resignation submitted by city employees in 2023.
City staff said Rhinehart is leaving to pursue new consulting opportunities.
Rhinehart said his time with Roswell was an incredible experience, and the city “continues to become world class” for building trust with constituents, adapting as a team and driving economic development while implementing $180 million in bond projects.
“I leave Roswell in the hands of an effective and competent leadership team,” Rhinehart said.
Roswell Mayor Kurt Wilson said the city has grown under Rhinehart’s leadership, and the staff and processes Rhinehart established with City Administrator Randy Knighton are “exactly in line with what the city has needed.”
Rhinehart was hired in April with an initiative to reorganize city staff while advancing the City Council’s goals and priorities. The position of chief operating officer had previously not existed in the city’s organizational chart.
“Richard has far exceeded our expectations,” Wilson said. “What he accomplished during his time with the city will have a resounding impact on the organization as well as Roswell and its residents.”
